Marcus L. Wise
I grew up a nomad. By the time I was fifteen, I'd lived in more than 30 houses in 3 states. This constant change and movement has guided my artistic sense and molded me into a constant explorer: always seeking the new, the fantastic, the beautiful, and my place in it. I seek the natural order in chaos, shapes in the nebulous, patterns previously unseen: reframed, re-imagined.

As an adult, as an artist, I continue that exploration. I have since photographed in over 35 states, five countries and counting. Regardless the breadth of my map, each of my works contains a singular focus. Each image is an intimate inspection of the environment, of the object. Through close cropping and play with depth-of-field, every subject is discovered in isolation, in some cases to the point of abstraction, challenging the viewer to get closer, to reach in and touch, to feel the way I feel when composing the image.
